Redneck fun

Yesterday, a group of us went and "floated" the Bogue Chitto river and had some good ol' redneck fun! We rented tubes and just floated down the river, drinking some beer and stopping at sandbars here and there just to hang out. We took the "2 hour" float trip and made it last about 5 hours. It was so much fun! I'm ready to go back! I took a bunch of pictures, but they're still on the waterproof camera... and it may be a little while before I get them developed because I still have about 9 left on the camera. I'll post them as soon as I get them on a CD.

More Big Easy

F*#$ing blogger... I get so mad at it sometimes how it will only let you upload so many pics in one post... okay, so anyway...

Saturday, the plan was to get up early and get some beignets at Cafe du Monde, but we didn't quite wake up early like we'd hoped. But we did make it to lunch at Cafe Maspero's, and spent the afternoon walking around the French Market and then toured back down Rue Royal window shopping in the antique stores on the way back to the hotel. We ate a fabulously delicious (and expensive!) dinner at the Bourbon House, and did a lot more walking around up and down Bourbon Street. After dinner, we spent a while at the Tropical Isle enjoying some famous Hand Grenades, and then just hit some random places along Bourbon Street the rest of the night.

Today, the plan was (once again) to wake up early enough to get some beignets at Cafe du Monde before heading home (I had to be back by 5:00pm to pick up the dogs from the kennel), but by the time we got up and got ready to go, got checked out of the hotel and waited almost an hour for the valet to bring my car down, we didn't have time for beignets. :'( Sorry Cafe du Monde, maybe next time. So, then we were going to have plenty of time to stop at Middendorf's and eat some awesome seafood for lunch on the way back home. That is, until we drove for 45 minutes in the wrong direction on I-10... We reached Mississippi on the way to Bay St. Louis before we realized that we should've gotten on I-10 in New Orleans going WEST (not East) to get to I-55! So we had to turn around, and take I-12 for like almost an hour to go through Hammond and finally make it to I-55. I was so pissed! I decided that I had to call the kennel and just have the dogs stay an extra day so that we could go back south on I-55 for about 15 miles and eat at Middendorf's. The rest of the trip had been so great, that I just couldn't let today be ruined completely. Once we finally made it home, it had taken us more than 5 hours from the time we left the hotel!

Backtracking

Okay, now that I'm back from the Big Easy, maybe I can focus on posting a blog! :) Let me see... for the 4th of July, we cooked out some BBQ ribs with the neighbors and sat outside all afternoon, finally decided to get some fireworks, and after waiting for it to finally get dark enough to shoot them, shot fireworks for all of 15 minutes before it started pouring down rain and thundering and lightening. But we still had a great time just hanging out all day!

Then, the 6th was my birthday... that's right, the big 2-6. Sarah says we're getting old, but I think not. I felt really old when i turned 25 last year, but this year not so much. I figure I'll wait till I'm 29 before I start worrying about being old! Thanks so much to Linds for the awesome birthday post! I love ya and I miss ya! It was overall, a really good birthday even though I spent the day at work. Jody gave me these gorgeous dozen red roses... maybe this time he realized that I really did appreciate them! Aren't they pretty? :)

So, on to New Orleans! We were a little later than planned arriving, but that was okay. Friday night we just kinda took it easy... ate at the Acme Oyster House, then walked down Bourbon Street and got a couple of Hurricanes and chilled at Pat O'Briens for a little while. Then we just walked around a little more and ended up at the Carousel Bar in the lobby of our hotel before calling it a night. By the way, we stayed at the Hotel Monteleone, which is so flippin' sweet! I highly recomment it to anybody visiting New Orleans.

And I'm going to New Orleans for the weekend!
Party time! Excellent! :D

(One of these days I will find time to post something a little more than this.)
